Green Nest comes to us with best resorts in kotagiri
Any typical day for a Mumbaikar is a day of stress, tension, high traffic congestion, air pollution, etc.
Mumbai is a beautiful city with its charm. It has its pace and everyday chaos, but nowadays its seems cramped up with high rising walls of concrete. Gone are the days of open spaces, children playing in parks and garden the average rise in wealth may be increasing, but it seems to have taken away the soul of the city. So to break free from some everyday chaos I decided to take a holiday from work and embarked my journey to the Greenlands of Ooty.
In the hot and hum month of March, once I landed the at Nilgiri hills, I could instantly feel and joy the clean air clearing my lungs. There was an instant aura of peace, a calming presence which gave me a much-needed break
I started my journey with the Ooty rose gardens. It’s present on the slopes of Elk Hill in Vijayanagaram, and I was delighted to see the various varieties of roses. I have never seen roses, there were around 20,000 varieties of roses of 2800 cultivars and I heard that the garden has the most extensive collections of roses in India. Some of the roses include miniature roses, ramblers, hybrid tea roses, polyanthas and roses of unusual colors such as green and black. The garden has been laid out with beautiful rose tunnels, pergolas with rose creepers.
Since I am a tea enthusiast, my next obvious destination was the tea factories of Ooty. I love tea, and readily gulp down around 4 cups, its a drug I can’t live without at least while traveling. I visited the Dodabetta tea factory where I experienced the real live process of making tea right from the tea leaves been plucked from the gardens to final processing, and also saw a variety of tea, it was an experience which I will always cherish.
My final journey was trekking the hills of Bakasura Malai; it’s said this is one of the places where Tipu Sultan hid during the war the trekking the mountain the trees the natural landscape was genuinely breathtaking. Its a big mountain top covered by deep valleys all four sides and the view was breathtaking.
As my journey to one of my dream destinations was coming to an end, I wished I could continue it bit longer, but the harsh reality of normal life cant be escaped. I promised ill be back in the Nilgiri hills of Ooty and venture further into its beautiful landscapes.
